The Advantages of custom exterior screens

Exterior screens are shading systems that are installed on the outside of the home. As with most shading systems, exterior screens come with a variety of customization options – most notably the opacity of the material chosen. A material with more opacity blocks more light, heat, and UV rays, while a lighter opacity lets more of the outside – in.

Skyco’s team of shading design and installation professionals work with you to determine the optimal solution for your shading needs, and can consult with you to ensure that your chosen exterior screen materials, automation, and mechanism will provide the necessary protection, privacy, and aesthetic to realize your vision.

The biggest difference between interior and exterior screens is that exterior screens are able to block much more of the sun’s UV rays and provide better temperature control than interior screens.

Glass amplifies heat and UV rays. Exterior screens block UV rays and heat before they even reach the glass in your windows, enhancing comfort within the space by providing better temperature control and protection. In fact, exterior screens can reduce heat gain by around 80%, compared to the 40% reduction of interior screens.
